A free directory for Wakefield District

Support within reach

Food banks, clothing banks, baby banks, school uniform schemes, and hygiene products across Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, and the Five Towns.

Who we are

Wakefield Reach is a directory of support services for people experiencing poverty across Wakefield District. It helps anyone - individuals, families, and frontline workers - find the help they need, quickly and without barriers.

The name means exactly that. Support within reach - no referrals, no forms, no judgment. Just a clear, searchable directory of support services near you.

We're two people from Wakefield District: Rob Hawlor, founder of Blue Penguin Digital, and sector partner Rebekah Blyth, who brings years of first-hand knowledge of the local voluntary and community sector.

What we're doing

We're launching a searchable directory covering five categories of support:

  • Food - food banks, community pantries, community kitchens, and meal schemes
  • Clothing - clothing banks and pre-loved clothing services
  • Baby items - baby banks providing nappies, formula, clothing, and equipment
  • School uniform - uniform banks, swap schemes, shoe schemes, and council grants
  • Hygiene - free toiletries and period products

Every listing is checked on a rolling cycle with visible "last verified" dates - sourced from real knowledge of local services, not scraped from national databases.

Free, always

Wakefield Reach is free to use, and always will be. No adverts. No tracking. No charge. No barriers.

Built and run by Blue Penguin Digital as a Penguins With Purpose project - donating the build, hosting, and upkeep so the directory costs nothing to anyone who needs it.
